The elite law enforcement agency Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the prime suspect in the alleged rape of a television actress at a birthday party in Banani on Tuesday night.
Lt Col Kamrul Hasan, commanding officer of RAB 11, told the Dhaka Tribune that Bahauddin Evan was apprehended from his relative's house in the Masdair area of Narayanganj at around 7:30pm on Thursday following a tip-off.
The RAB 11 CO added that a full press briefing would be given on Friday.

The girl filed the complaint with Banani police station on Wednesday, saying she had been raped at a house in the Nam Village residence area of Banani in the upmarket district of north Dhaka.
In the First Information Report (FIR), the girl said Evan called her up on Tuesday night and invited her to his birthday party, promising to introduce her to his mother and tell her about their love affair.
“I found no one else in his house when I went there," she told officers. "He mixed narcotics with my dinner and raped me in his bedroom.”

Meanwhile, doctors who examined the victim have said they did not find any sign of physical assault on the body of the girl.
“The girl told us that she had been physically assaulted but we did not find any such signs. There was no injury mark on her body,” Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) forensic department head Dr Sohel Mahmud said.
The medical board, however, collected blood and urine samples to determine if she was given intoxicating substances.
