Police officer’s body recovered from house in Narail

Police not sure about the cause of death

Police recovered Senior Inspector Md Shafiuddin’s body from a bathroom of a rented house next to Narail Sadar police station.  

He was working in B2 (Ward 4 of the municipality) under sadar police station.  

Police said Shafiuddin returned home from duty on Tuesday night. As he was unreachable on Wednesday, police went to his home searching for him and found him dead. 

Dr Hafizur Rahman Mukto of Narail Sadar Hospital said: “Police brought SI Shafiuddin around 2:45pm on Wednesday.  I examined him and found that he died before he was brought to the hospital. I have informed the resident medical officer to take further steps in this regard.”

Narail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Elias Hossain said that Shafiuddin was on duty till 8pm on Tuesday. 

“The death is reportedly caused by natural causes. Police will reveal the details later,” he added.

Shafiuddin was from Chandukhali village of Jhenaidah district. As his family resides in Jhenaidah, he used to live alone in Narail. On 18 August 2018, he joined Narail Sadar Police Station as a police officer.
