3-year-old's dead body found in gunnysack

He had been missing for five hours

A three-year-old’s body was found in a gunnysack five hours after going missing in Kurigram.

The incident took place on Friday at Jhagrachar village of Dadevanga union in Rowmari upazila of Kurigram.

The deceased was identified as Shafi, son of Jahedul Islam of the village.

On Friday afternoon, Shafi was suddenly nowhere to be found.

Everyone from his neighbourhood including his schoolteacher along with his parents and relatives started looking for him.

He was found in a nearby abandoned building but not the lively little boy anymore. Someone had killed him and put his body inside a gunnysack.

After hearing the news police recovered the dead body from the spot.

Rowmari police station OC Montasser Billah confirmed the information.

The OC said that about five hours after the child went missing, his relatives and locals found his body in a sack in an abandoned building next to their house. Later, the police recovered the body and brought it to the police station.

“The boy has some marks on his neck and his lips have turned very dark,” said the OC adding that the body has been sent to Kurigram morgue for autopsy.

He also said that they could not identify who killed the child in this manner, till writing this report at 11:30pm on Friday. Also, if the parents suspect anyone could not be ascertained yet.
