Noted littérateur and columnist Farhad Mazhar has given confessional statement regarding his much-talked-baout kidnapping incident to a Dhaka court on Tuesday afternoon.
He also requested the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ahsan Habib to allow him to go back home, reports our legal correspondent.
Earlier in the day, a Detective Branch official told the media that the kidnapping case will be investigated according to the statement given in a lower court.

The matter will be investigated based on his statement,” Detective Branch (DB) Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten said during a briefing at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media Centre on Tuesday noon.

When asked what Farhad said during his primary questioning, Abdul Baten said: “Farhad said the kidnappers dragged him inside a microbus in the morning and drove off. We are investigating how he was able to make calls to his wife under such duress. We are only sharing what we have gathered so far by the victim's preliminary statement. We will provide detailed information once we have all the evidence.”

From there, he was brought to Dhaka from Jessore around 9am in the morning. He was then taken to the DB office at Dhaka’s Minto Road around 10am Tuesday on from Adabor police station.
While talking to media, Farhad's daughter Chaumtoli Huq said: “My father looks very ill and exhausted. I have never seen him like this. We are worried about his health.”

Police claimed they have recovered a carryall from Farhad Mazhar on Monday. It contained shirts and mobile phone chargers. However, Farhad's wife Farida Akhter and his daughter said that Farhad did not have any such bag with him when he left the house in the morning.

But, the bag that was recovered with him was not the one that he usually uses. I do not know where this bag came from.”
