2 Hundi traders held with $500,000 in Jessore

Tipped off, a team of BGB 49 detained the hundi traders while they were heading to Dhaka by a car early Sunday morning

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained two hundi traders along with 500,000 US dollars, equivalent to around Tk4.40 crore, from Ulashi in Sharsha upazila of Jessore on Sunday.

The arrestees are Hridoy Mia, 37, son of Rashid Bepari of Matlab upazila in Chandpur district and Ashraful Islam, 40, son of Mafizul Islam of Daudkandi upazila in Comilla district.

Tipped off, a team of BGB-49 conducted a drive in the area and detained the hundi traders while they were going to Dhaka by a car early in the morning, said Commanding officer of BGB-49, Lieutenant Colonel Selim Reza.

Later, the BGB men recovered ten bundles of US dollar from the vehicle.

The arrestees were handed over to Sharsha police station.
