Police said they have not found the reason behind the murder of Highway Police’s Assistant Superintendent Mizanur Rahman Talukder, on Thursday.
Mizanur’s body was found dumped near Birulia Bridge on the bank of the Turag River close to Rupnagar in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka on Wednesday morning.

His younger brother Masum Talkder filed a murder case with Rupnagar police station on Wednesday night.
ASP Mizanur’s autopsy was done at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday.
DMCH Forensic Department Lecturer Dr Pradip Kumar Bishwash said: “The post-mortem was completed around 8:10am. We found several injury marks on his body.”
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Haque on Thursday asked the investigation team to submit their investigation report by July 30.

Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque told the media on Thursday: “We will know who killed Mizanur and why, after we complete our investigation.”
The case has been transferred to DMP Detective Branch from Rupnagar police, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
Hailing from Tangail’s Ghatail upazila, Mizanur used to live in Uttara, Dhaka. He joined the force in 1989 as a sub-inspector and was made ASP three years ago.
