Police have arrested two persons in connection with a case filed over the rape of a 14-year-old schoolgirl after her abduction in Shakhipur upazila of Tangail.
The arrestees, identified as Sohel Rana, 26 of Hubdesh village and his associate Sujon Miah of Harinatoli village from Dhanbari upazila, were sent to jail following a court order on Tuesday.
Shakhipur police station Sub Inspector (SI) Foisal Ahamed confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The rape survivor was sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Tangail Medical College and Hospital.
Sub Inspector Foisal Ahemed said that the schoolgirl was going to a private tutor from her home in Shakhipur upazila on Thursday, October 15.
On the girl's way, her personal driver Sohel Rana took her in her car telling her he would drop her off at the private tutor’s house. Instead of taking the schoolgirl to the tutor’s house, the accused Sohel took her to a flat in Dhaka where the girl was raped for four days.
“On Monday night, the rape survivor’s mother filed a case. Police rescued the girl from Dhaka and arrested Sohel and Sujon.” SI Foisal added.
