Elderly ruling party leader killed in Khulna

An elderly Awami League leader in Khulna was killed on Wednesday evening in a shooting by unidentified gunmen. Five others sustained bullet injuries during the incident, confirms Sumon Ranjan Sarker, senior assistant commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police. The deceased Shahadat Hossain Molla, 65, was the ruling party’s liberation war affairs secretary for the city's Sonadanga Thana unit. According to the KMP officer, unidentified gunmen opened fire on Shahadat and 7-8 of his associates around 8:30pm at the Haji Mohammad Mohsin School playground in the city’s Rayermahal Hamidnagar. Shahadat died on the spot. The injured were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
