A 100-year-old woman has been killed by unidentified criminals in Saltha upazila of Faridpur.
The deceased is Jobeda Begum, widow of one Adil Fakir of the upazila.
Saltha police station Officer-in-Charge AKM Aminul Haq said that the murder might have occurred sometime after Wednesday midnight.
“She was hit in the head with bricks to death,” he said.
Police recovered the victim's body from the crime scene Thursday morning and sent it to the morgue of Faridpur Medical College for an autopsy.
One of her distant relatives named Litu Fakir, who is also her neighbour, alleged that some 10 to 12 people including one Chan Mia had committed the killing.
Chan Mia refuted the allegation, claiming that they were framed by the woman's relatives who had been trying to occupy or misappropriate her land.
Nobody was detained in this connection as of 7:30pm.
