Regent Hospital owner Shahed handed over to DMP

The Regent Hospital owner was arrested early Wednesday morning

Shahed Karim alias Mohammad Shahed, the chairman of Regent Hospital, has been handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), made the announcement during a press briefing at around 3pm on Wednesday.

He said as the DB was investigating the case, Shahed would be handed over to them.

RAB sources said they had already started the handover process at the RAB Headquarters.

Earlier, RAB arrested Shahed for his alleged involvement in providing fake Covid-19 certificates and embezzling money from patients at the two branches of his hospital in Dhaka.

He was arrested from the border area of Debhata in Satkhira at around 5:10am on Wednesday.
