A 28-year-old was killed allegedly by two of his friends for failing to repay the money he owed them.
After killing Md Sumon near Nayagaon beel (swamp) of Narayanganj, they hid his dead body under water hyacinths.
One month later, since he went missing on May 11 from his house at Naya Paltan, the dead body was recovered.
The alleged killers — Shahin Sheikh, the main conspirator, and his friend Aslam — have been arrested on Tuesday evening from Keraniganj and following their statements the dead body was recovered, said Paltan Police station OC Abu Bakar Siddique.
The deceased Sumon worked as a waiter at a casino in Motijheel, and his two friends and alleged killers worked at a furniture shop.
According to primary interrogation, the killers fetched Sumon from his house to take him to Shahin’s house.
“After doing drugs together, they took him to Nayagaon beel to get some fresh air. They ended up killing him there as he couldn’t provide the Tk14,000 he owed them,” said the OC.
They sold the victim’s motorcycle to get some of the debt money, he added.
However, four days after he went missing a general diary was filed by the victim’s brother with Paltan police station and a case is being prepared to be lodged.
