Police finally register Hazrat’s cattle theft case

Update : 20 May 2017, 03:41 PM
Police have registered the case filed over stealing the cattle of Hazrat Ali, who along with his daughter apparently committed suicide by jumping before a running train on April 29, one and a half months after the complaint was lodged. The case was registered on May 16 and a person was arrested on Thursday. Investigation officer of the case Sub-Inspector Shahidul Islam said the victim’s wife Halima Begum filed the complaint on April 4. Four people from Sreepur’s Karnapur village were shown accused in the complaint. They are Faruk, 24, Abdul Kuddus, 45, Abdul Khaleque, 45 and Afsar alias Afsu, 40. Asked why the case was registered so late, the sub-inspector replied he was only responsible for the investigation of the case. Hazrat Ali, 55, along with his adopted daughter Ayesha Akhter, 8, jumped before a running train in Gazipur apparently out of frustration at not getting justice over sexual abuse of the minor girl, subsequent theft of his cattle and threat from his neighbour. The alleged abuser, Faruk Hossain from Gazipur's Shreepur upazila, is still at large. Earlier, police arrested the prime accused Abul Hossain, a union parishad member, in connection with the incident.
