A man was arrested at the Hazrat Shahjalat International Airport Police station in a gang rape case on Tuesday night at Ashkona area of Dhaka.
The arrestee was identified as Alamgir Hossain, a private car driver of Uttara area.
Nur Mohammad, inspector (Investigation) of airport police station, confirmed the matter. He said: “Detained Alamgir was the main conspirator in the rape incident. He will be produced in front of the court with a remand plea.”
Alamgir also said: “In relation to this rape incident, we have already arrested three people including a girl named Shilpi Khatun, who was one of the associates.”
Associate Shilpi is a street girl, and other rapists Rubel is a sweeper and Jalaluddin Babu is a painter, who were detained on Saturday and Sunday.
Police identified the miscreants using the descriptions given by the victim, who is a teenaged street girl.
The teenager was gang-raped behind some bushes near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Railway Station in the city in the early hours of Friday.
Police said the victim is about 14 years old.
Locals rescued the victim and took her to Kurmitola General Hospital, and later she was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC).
