Customs officials detained three passengers and seized a massive consignment of illicit drugs, cigarettes, gold and other items worth Tk35 lakh at Dhaka airport on Wednesday.
Dhaka airport customs Assistant Commissioner Md Al Amin confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune.
The three detainees Md Yousuf, Md Alamgir, and Md Mozaher, all hailing from Chittagong, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Jet Airways flight from Dubai around 10:30am.
After receiving a tip-off, customs officials identified the three at the airport’s luggage belt area and challenged them when they approached the green channel.
A large amount of sex stimulating drugs including Viagra, Cialis, Maxman and Viga were recovered from the suspects during a body search and luggage check.
The seizure also includes 35kg of foreign perfumes and cosmetics, 3 laptops, 10 mobile phones, 100gm of gold, 32kg of powdered milk and 960 packets of foreign cigarettes including the brands Benson, Dunhill and Mond.
