Man commits suicide after killing wife

A father-of-two killed his wife and later hanged himself from the ceiling of his house in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj area on Tuesday. According to local sources, Mosharraf Hossain, 45, and Mitu Akter, 32, got married around 15 years ago. Mosharraf was a truck driver and addicted to drugs. Siddhirganj police station OC Sharafat Ullah said the couple had been going through a tough time since long over the husband’s drug addiction. “On Tuesday morning, they locked into an altercation over the same issue and at one stage Mosharaf stabbed his wife with a sharp weapon. As the local people locked the door of his room from outside, he hanged himself from the ceiling,” the OC added. Police recovered the bodies around 10am and sent them to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, OC Sharafat said.
