Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 4 Commanding Officer (CO) Mozammel Haque has said militant groups are now interchanging their members, which is very significant.
He said this at a press briefing after four suspected members of the banned militant outfit Ansar-al-Islam—also known as the Ansarullah Bangla Team—were arrested in a drive from Dhaka's Gabtoli and Savar's Amin Bazar areas on Monday.
The press briefing was held around 11:30am at the RAB media centre in Karwan Bazar area of Dhaka.
Among the four arrestees, Mufti Saiful Islam, 34, from Manikganj has previously worked with another militant group -- Harkat-ul-Jihad (Huji) -- said the RAB CO.
The other three arrested are Md Salim Mia, 30, Zunaed, 37, and Ahammed Sohel, 21 -- from Brahmanbaria, Munshiganj and Sunamganj respectively.
Mozammel said: "At least 25 to 30 Ansar-al-Islam militants are yet to be arrested.
"However, militancy is still under control."
RAB seized books, leaflets, laptops and smart phones -- all containing militancy elements -- from them. They also found digital contents used to train militants.
The RAB CO said: “Militants are usually unknown to each other and get together only during group meetings.
“They communicate with each other by using protective apps and browsers.
"The militants want to establish a Khelafat and Sharia based regime, and desire to punish everyone they perceive[1] as anti-Islamic,” the RAB official added.
