Locals demand speedy execution of Mufti Hannan

Several hundred people staged a demonstration in Kotalipara of Gopalganj on Thursday demanding speedy execution of militant leader Mufti Hannan. A procession, led by Hiron Union Parishad Chairman Munshi Ebadur Rahman, was brought out in the upazila in the evening. They later held a rally. The protesters also noted that they would not let the body of Hannan, who hails from Kotalipara, be buried in the area. Chief of a faction of banned outfit HujiB, Hannan is set to be executed if the president rejects his mercy petition – submitted on Monday.
