A rape case has been filed against a jailer of Rajbari District Jail, for allegedly raping a prisoner's wife.
The victim filed a case with Rajbari Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal on Monday.
The court has set a hearing date for this case on May 13.
On February 1, the victim went to visit her detained husband at jail, when the accused, Anisur Rahman Ajjul, 35, offered to release her husband for Tk50,000 within seven days.
Saying they were going to meet a lawyer, Anisur took the victim to an unknown place and raped her. The incident was recorded on a phone by an associate of Anisur.
He then threatened to rape her again on April 24, at a cremation ground beside the jail.
Jail Superintendent Md Anwarul Islam said: "An argument between the jailer and the prisoner might have triggered the incident."
Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari District, Md Shawkat Ali, said: "The jail superintendent has been ordered to investigate the matter."
