An imposter, posing to be a National Security Intelligence (NSI) official, has been detained in Kushtia.
Sumon Ahmed, 35, was detained from the Mirpur Upazila Muktijoddha Complex on Sunday.
Mirpur police station OC, Abul Kalam, confirmed the matter.
“A case is in the process of being filed against him,” he said.
Sumon is the son of Liakat Ali of Natore.
Former commander of Mirpur upazila, Nazrul Karim, said: “The man came to the complex office in the afternoon, identified himself as an NSI official, and asked for documents of freedom fighters who were left out from the allowance list of the government.
“His behavior was suspicious, and therefore, we called the police and later he was detained.”
At the time some paperwork, Tk50,000, and a toy gun were found with him.
“The detained man was ripping off people in various places, using his fake identity,” Mirpur police station SI, Mizanur Rahman, said.
