Headmaster accused of molesting a fourth grader

Previously, the headmaster verbally abused female teachers of the school

A headmaster in Tangail has been accused of sexually assaultinga fourth-grade student at his school.

The alleged incident occurred on April 1 at Basudeb Kol Government Primary School in Bhuapur, Tangail.

The accused headmaster has been identified as Abdul Khalek, a resident of Chandipur village in Bhuapur upazila.

The victim's mother alleged that the headmaster called the girl to an empty classroom and made an obscene proposal.

After that, when the fourth grader tried to run off, he grabbed her and molested her physically, she claimed. The headmaster let her go when she started shouting.

Following the allegedassault, the girl ran home and complained to her mother and aunt in tears.

No steps were taken after the incident was reported to the school managing committee and the head of the village.

The director of the school managing committee, Khalek Sarkar, claimed that the headmaster had verbally abused female teachers of the school in the past.

"The incident may be true, I demand exemplary punishment." he added.

Officer-in-Charge of Bhuapur Police Station Rashidul Islam said: "A case has been filed by the victim's family. We are trying to arrest the accused."

Headmaster Abdul Khalek denied the allegation against him when reached over the phone.
