'Police not taking ex-UP member missing complaint'

Update : 24 Mar 2017, 09:11 PM
The family members of a former union parishad member on Friday said that police are not  registering any complaint even nine days after he was being allegedly picked by four law enforcers in plain clothes. Yasmin Ara Begum, wife of Iqbal Hasan Tipu, 55, an ex-member of Satagram Union Parishad, said that four people in two motorbikes came to their home on March 16, taking away Tipu saying that they would interrogate him over a murder. But, since then, neither police nor RAB gave Tipu's family any idea about where he is or who picked him up. Seeking proper measures from the administration to help find Tipu soon, his son Ibrahim Khalil Himu said that police advised them to find him, instead. When contacted, Dinajpur Supeintendent of Police Hamidul Alam and local RAB commander Major Saqib said they did not detain Tipu. However, Birganj police OC Abu Akkas confirmed the news of Tipu being missing. Replying to a query about the allegation Tipu's family brought against them, Akkas said that he does not have the authority to register complaint against any law enforcing agency.
