According to police sources, an accused of the murder case  Shahabuddin was hired by Washington for Tk2 lakh.

At first, he gave  Shahabuddin Tk20,000 and committed to him that Tk1.8 lakh would be given after completing the assignment.

After giving the money, Washington went to India and monitored the killers over mobile phone.

He reached Bangladesh on January 17 and went into hiding.

Earlier, the police arrested three killers of Safa. They were Shahabuddin, Rana Mollah and Raqib of Shankarpur in Jessore town.

Safa, owner of SN Enterprise and a resident of Khaldhar Road in Jessore, was stabbed to death by miscreants near the Central Eidgah on January 1.

Motalib Hossain, manager of  SN Enterprise, said some unidentified miscreants stabbed Safa in the throat and fled the scene as soon as he reached in front of a photocopy shop near the Eidgah on the day.

The victim’s wife, Rabeya Khatun, said miscreants had been demanding money from Safa as extortion for many days.

She suspected that the miscreants might have killed her husband as he refused to meet their demand.
