A man was beaten to death for protesting against loud music late at night in Nalchity upazila of Jhalakathi on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Jalil Howlader ,60, of Meher village of the upazila, confirmed Nalchity police station OC (Investigation), Abdul Halim Talukder.
Police said some youths from the village organized a picnic and were playing loud music at Meher Uzzat Ali Howlader’s house from Friday afternoon.
Abdul protested the matter and Khan Bappi Howlader, Sabuj, Milon, Alamgir, and Ashik vandalized his house and attacked him with sticks on his head.
Later, family members rescued him and took him to Barisal Shebachim Hospital where the duty doctor pronounced him dead.
Abdul’s son, Jihad Howlader, said: “No one could sleep at night because of the loud music. My father protested the matter and was beaten to death for doing so.”
Abdul’s body was recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy, OC Abdul Halim Talukder said.
A case has been filed against the men. Action will be taken after investigating the matter, he added.
