A Dinajpur court has placed Shafiqul Islam Babu, the alleged leader of a gang that killed a Pir and his adopted daughter in Bochaganj last week, on a seven-day police remand.
The Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court of Judge Lutfar Rahman gave the order Tuesday afternoon when Bochaganj OC Arzu Mohammad Sazzad Hossain produced him before it with a nine-day remand prayer.
Babu, son of Azimuddin in Doula-Shahapara in Bochaganj, is a disciple of Pir Eshaq Ali of Kurigram. He was arrested on Monday.
Pir Eshaq has already confessed in court that he had planned the murder of his former Pir Farhad Hossain Chowdhury and Rupali Begum.
The duo were found dead at Pir Farhad’s Kaderia Mohammadia Darbar Sharif Khanqah Sharif in Hatrampur area, close to his Doulagram village home, on March 13.
