A youth from Lakhai of Habiganj died Monday night after he was beaten up severely by his rivals over a land dispute.
According to OC Md Shamim Musa of Lakhai police, deceased Gias Uddin, 30, had a land-related dispute with Burhan Mia of the same Singha village.
They engaged in an altercation over the long-pending matter Monday evening.
At one point, Burhan, his associate Sharif Mia and their supporters beat up Gias and left him severely injured.
Locals rescued him but he succumbed to his injuries around 8:30pm when taken to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital.
OC Musa said that they were trying to arrest the culprits.
