A man has been arrested for raping his daughter-in-law in Bogra.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 12 arrested him from Shahjahanpur Chaklakman area, in a case filed by the daughter-in-law on Saturday.
Investigation Officer SI Wahiduzzaman said: “The accused was sent to jail by the court on Sunday and the victim was sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for medical tests.”
RAB 12 Company Commander, Major MM Morshed Hasan, and Squad Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police SM Jamil Ahmed, confirmed the matter.
The victim, a mother of one, had also tried to commit suicide by taking poison.
The accused previously sought intimate relations with the woman offering her his property in return, which she refused. She later told her husband about it and the man was beaten up by his son too.
The accused also allegedly tried to rape the woman several times in the last seven years.
On February 16, the father-in-law raped her while his son was out of the house. During that time, the victim started screaming, waking her daughter up, and her father-in-law fled the house.
Later, full of anger and in shame, she tried to commit suicide on February 20.
On Saturday, the woman and her husband went to RAB 12 and submitted a complaint against the accused and filed a rape case at Shahjahanpur police station.
