Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a suspected member of banned militant outfit, Ansar al-Islam, formerly known as Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), from the Babla Mathabhanga area of Moheshpur upazila in the district on Saturday night.
The arrested was identified as Jashim, son of Faruk Hossain, of Dakhinpara village in the upazila.
RAB-6 Company Commander, Md Masud Alam, said Jasim was arrested around 11pm from the playgrounds of Mathabhanga Govt Primary School in the area, for posting the ideology of Ansar al-Islam on social media which triggered extremism in the country.
RAB recovered a mobile phone , three Sims and a memory card from him, Masud said.
After completing his eight years education at Borni Shapuri Qawmi Madrasa in Jessore, Jashim attended a Keraniganj madrasa in Dhaka, where he acquired training in militancy, Masud added.
