Limon confessed to police that he killed his sister-in-law after she refused to give him money

A young man killed his sister-in-law in a planned way in her house in the Kalihat area under the Akbar Shah police station of the Chittagong district on February 8.

The culprit was identified as Forhad Hossen Limon, 22, son of Abdul Kashem Patowari, of the Paikpara area in the Chandpur district while the deceased was Hasina Begum, 32, a garments worker of the Shafiganj area in the Noakhali district.

Limon confessed to police that he killed his sister-in-law after she refused to give him money. He committed the murder in a planned way in style of Indian television series “Crime Patrol” that narrates real-life stories of kidnappings and homicides, said Amena Begum, additional police commissioner of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police, on February 9.

The husband of the deceased is a Saudi expatriate and their only son Abir Hossain, 12, stays at a madrasa in the Pahartoli area of the district.

Police arrested Limon after Hasina’s brother field a case with the police station, while a court granted five days remand to interrogate Limon in custody.

Quoting Limon, police said he went to Hasina's house on February 7 on the pretext of watching television after she returned from work. Hasina slept in her bedroom after finishing household chores where Limon strangled her to death.

After the murder, he took gold ornaments and the mobile phone and dragged the body to the drawing room and fled the scene to make it appear as if it was a robbery.

Limon claimed that Hasina usually did not help him financially which made him angry to the extent that he murdered her finally.
