A 36-year-old father was held on Saturday in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district for repeated rape of his sixth grade daughter.
According to police sources, Raza Mian, the father of the victim and son of Hasan Mondol of Niva village in the upazila was arrested in the morning for raping his daughter.
The uncle of the victim, said Raza , a rickshaw puller, lived with his wife in Kushtia. Only one daughter of theirs lived with her grandmother in Pangsha.
When Raza came to the village, he raped her daughter repeatedly. The victim said she requested her father not to rape her. But he committed the heinous act forcefully. At last she exposed the matter to her relatives.
On Saturday, locals confined him and handed him over to Patta Union Council Chairman Abdur Rahman after a public beating.
The chairman handed him over to the police.
Pangsha police station Officer-in-Charge, Ahsan Ullah, said the victim was sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital.
Raza confessed the matter, the OC added.
A case was filed in this connection.
