A student, who was abducted for ransom from the Bogra Sadar upazila on Saturday noon, was rescued at night.
Police also arrested three people in this connection.
Sadar police station Sub Inspector (SI) Sohel Rana said Sakibul Islam, 20, a second year student of Textile at the Bangladesh Institute of Information Technology, was kidnapped by suspected criminals in the Khandar Thinmata area on Saturday noon while he was returning home.
The kidnappers demanded Tk1 lakh ransom from Sakibul’s family over the phone.
Following the demand, Sakibul's father paid Tk5,100 through b-Kash, and informed the police of the incident, said the SI.
Law enforcers arrested Rezaul Islam Riyad, 24, Wahed Farouqi Megh, 19 and Sohel Rana, 26, around 10pm when they along with the student came to the Khandar Tinmatha area to collect the rest of the money, at which time the police rescued the boy.
A case was filed with the police station on Sunday morning.
The arrested were sent to jail after being produced before a court.
