Suspected robber killed in Kushtia 'gunfight'

A suspected robber has been killed in a “gunfight” with police in Badha Bottola area under Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district. The deceased is Selim Molla, 32, of Modhugari village. Kushtia Detective Branch (DB) of Police OC Sabbirul Islam said: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a joint dive with the help of Daulatpur police in the area around 3:30am on Friday. “Sensing our presence, the robbers opened fire at us.” In retaliation, police fired back that left Selim injured while the others managed to flee the scene. Three policemen were also injured in the incident, the DB official said. He said: “Selim was declared dead when taken to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex. He was accused in several cases, including robbery.” The law enforcers recovered two firearms, two knives and some bullets from the spot.
