Police recovered body of a man from in front of a kitchen market in Mirpur 6 of Dhaka on Mondayaround 3pm, along with four motorcycles, confirmedOfficer In-charge (OC) Dadon Fakir of the Mirpur Model Police Station.
The dead person was identified as Roman, 32.
Mirpur police said Bachchu Mia, Sub Inspector of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) outpost informed them that another person, Al-Amin, 27, a friend of one Mizanur Rahman, injured in the same incident was admitted to the DMCH on the same day.
In a primary inquiry it was found that Roman was a drill mechanic, but later turned out to be a petty criminal, while Al-Amin sells stolen petrol in Mirpur section-10, the OC said.
The reason behind the incident could not be known instantly. It is suspected to be an enmity, but the real cause may come to light after further investigation, he added.
Al-Amin’s friend Mizanur Rahman said that the accident occurred when he, along with Al Amin were going to Mirpur-10 from Mirpur-6 around 2:30pm on foot. As they reached the kitchen market area in Mirpur section 6, block-B; some 5 to 6 unidentified youths suddenly appeared before them and started stabbing them indiscriminately and fled the scene leaving Al Amin severely injured. He first took Al Amin to a local pharmacy and then rushed him to DMCH.
Mizanur said Al-Amin used to sell stolen petrol in Mirpur 10.
