Unidentified assailants have hacked the security guard of a church in Pabna's Chatmohar upazila.
Three suspects have been detained over the incident.
Gilbert D’Costa, 60, of Saint Rita Catholic Church in Mothurapur area of the upazila came under attack around 3am on Friday.
OC of Chatmohar police SM Ahsan Habib said: “The assailants entered the church and hacked Gilbert in the head when he tried to stop them."
Police primarily suspect that the incident was the result of a previous enmity.
Gilbert was first taken to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Pabna General Hospital for better treatment.
