Sub-Inspector Jasimuddin, in-charge of Harta police camp under Wazirpur police station, was suspended after the authorities received several allegations against him from different corners, said SM Aktaruzzaman, the superintendent of police.
Wazirpur OC Golam Sarwar said that they were investigating the matter.
SI Jasimuddin has refuted the allegations, claiming that it was a conspiracy hatched by Harta Union Parishad Chairman Haren Roy as he had refused to follow the latter’s unlawful instructions.
On the other hand, Haren said that many people had become victims of SI Jasimuddin’s harassment and sent written allegations to the SP.
Swapan Majumder, a grocery shop owner, said that the SI had trapped him by stocking a packet of yaba pills at his shop and collecting Tk20,000 as bribe for his release on February 8.
