3 models among 4 held over SB inspector’s murder

Mamun’s burnt body was recovered from Gazipur on July 10

Detectives have arrested four people, including three female models, for their alleged involvement in the murder of police's Special Branch (SB) Inspector Md Mamun Imran Khan.

The models are Suraiya Akhter Keya, 22; Meherunnesa Swarna, alias Afrin, 19; and Faria Binte Mim, alias Maisha, 18. However, the identity of the other arrestee is yet to be ascertained.

Khandaker Nurunnabi, deputy commissioner of Detective Branch (East) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.

He said following a tip-off, DB police conducted drives in different areas of Dhaka and made arrests.

Details regarding the matter will be disclosed at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre later in the day.

With the recent arrest, a total of five people have been arrested in connection to the murder of the 38-year-old SB inspector—whose burnt body was recovered from Gazipur on July 10.

SB officer Mamun joined the Bangladesh Police as a sub-inspector in 2005 and was posted to several Dhaka-based police units. In 2015, he was promoted to inspector and posted to Chittagong.
