Schoolgirl raped in Khulna, two held

Police on Tuesday arrested two youths in a case filed over raping a schoolgirl at Bhagabatipur village in Batiaghata upazila of Khulna. The arrestees are Bahauddin Sardar, son of Nasir Udin Sardar of the upazila’s Raipur village, and his cohort Rabiul Sheikh, son of Jalil Sheikh of the same village. According to the case statement, Bahauddin used to disturb the girl on her way to and from school. After her parents told the matter to community leaders, they gave Bahauddin a good beating and handed him over to his parents. Aggrieved by the complaint, Bahauddin, Rabiul and four to five others stormed into the girl’s house Sunday night, and Bahauddin raped her while his cohorts recorded the scene with their mobile phones, the statement reads. The accused also said the victim’s family would have to face dire consequences if they disclosed the matter to anyone, it adds.
