The former chairman of the capital's development authority Iqbal Uddin Chowdhury and director of Partex Group Shawkat Aziz have been arrested for illegally allotting Rajuk plots.
An Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) team arrested Iqbal from Dhaka's Paribagh and Aziz from Gulshan, ACC Spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
The ACC on Wednesday accused eight people, including Iqbal Uddin and Shawkat Aziz, in a case with Motijheel police for allegedly allocating two Rajuk plots (10-kantha each) in violation of rules.
Others named in the case are former Rajuk members SD Foyez, AKM Wahidul Islam, SM Zafar Ullah, HM Jahirul Haque and Md Rezaul Karim Tarafder, and Ashfaq Aziz Rubel of Partex Group.
According to the case statement, the accused illegally allocated two plots of Rajuk for Shawkat Aziz and Ashfaq Aziz between 2001-04, for their own personal grain.
