Teenager arrested for raping six-year-old in Tangail

A teenager has been arrested for raping a six-year-old in Tangail's Madhupur upazila. The culprit Akash Das, 17, was arrested on Wednesday night, the same day the incident took place. He is son of Bhojan Chandra Das from Raktipara area of the upazila. The victim's maternal grandmother said Akash is their neighbour. “On Wednesday, as there was no one in Akash's house, he called my granddaughter to his house to watch television with him and then he raped her. “Later, hearing my granddaughter's cries for help, locals rushed to the house and rescued her,” she added. Madhupur police station OC Md Shafiqul Islam said: “Akash has been sent to jail after we produced him before a court today [on Thursday]. “Signs of rape was found on the victim's body during preliminary check-up. The child has been sent to Tangail Sadar Hospital for further treatment.”
