Suspected criminal killed in Gazipur ‘gunfight’

The deceased is Budu Monir, 30, son of one Siraj Uddin, from Noakhali. He was accused in 15/16 cases over murders, arms and terrorism. “Acting on a tip-off, a DB team raided Segun Bagan area of the city to arrest listed criminal Monir on Sunday night. Then Monir and his cohorts fired gunshots at police,” Gazipur DB police OC Amir Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune on Monday morning. “In retaliation, police fired back that left Monir injured while his all but one cohort managed to flee the scene,” the OC continued. “Two cops were also injured in the gunfight. Monir was declared dead at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.” Police arrested one of Monir’s cohorts Anwar and recovered a pistol with four loaded bullets from the spot, he added.
