Police arrests man with cocaine worth Tk2.5 crore

Members of police have seized a man with cocaine weighing 1kg from Tangail's Mirzapur upazila on Tuesday. The detainee is Shopon Mridha, 31, son of Tara Mridha of Gorail village under Vatgram union. Mirzapur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Mizanul Haque confirmed the fact. Acting on a tip-off, the police detained Shopon from Kodalia village of Mirzapur's Gorai union. Senior Assistant Superintendent of Tangail Police (Mirzapur and Nagarpur circle) Shahadat Hossain said: "Shopon and his associates have been selling drugs in the northern areas including Tangail, Gazipur, Dhaka, Manikganj, Mymensingh, Sirajganj for a long time." "Police kept an eye on them and on Tuesday evening, detained Shopon with 1kg of cocaine in front of Megha Miah's house in Kodalia village," he added.
