Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained the prime suspect of the murder of a woman and her son in Kakrail area of Dhaka.
The suspect, identified as Al Amin alias Jony, was detained in a drive in Gopalganj on Saturday, said sources from RAB and police.
During initial interrogation, Jony confessed to his direct involvement in the murder of Shamsun Nahar and Shaon, the first wife and son of another suspect Abdul Karim.
Jony said he murdered Nahar at her residence last Wednesday evening. He killed Shaon after he witnessed his mother’s murder.
A Dhaka court granted police six days to interrogate Abdul Karim, owner of Karim Tower at Kakrail, and his third wife Sharmin Mukta in the case last Friday.
Sources said the couple gave details on how the murders were planned five months ago in Rangamati.
Karim claimed that he had repeatedly suffered physical and verbal abuse at the hands of his first wife, who blamed him for their divorce.
Karim and Mukta later convinced Mukta’s elder brother Jony to murder Shamsun Nahar, the suspects said.
