Trial into sexual abuse by ex-AUST teacher starts

Update : 03 Jan 2017, 01:16 AM
Judge Shafiul Azam of Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 2 recorded partial deposition of the complainant, Asadullah Al Sayem, adjourning the proceedings until January 16 for the rest of his testimony. Earlier on November 3, the court indicted Ferdous, a teacher of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 82 days after charges were pressed against him. Even before that, Sayem, brother of a victim, filed the case with Kalabagan police station on May 3 against Ferdous, leading to his arrest the next day. The case record says Ferdous, on March 2, took a first-year female student of his department to his flat where he sexually abused her, snapped some indecent pictures of hers, and threatened to upload them online, if she reported the assault. He applied the similar method and ostensibly harassed two other female students of the same department - one on November 22, 2015 at his flat and another on February 19, 2016 at his university office. In the wake of theses allegations, the AUST authorities terminated him on May 9.
