A man, who was allegedly stabbed by his wife and children over a family dispute, died at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on Thursday.
Moktar Bepari, the 44-year-old victim was a mason from the Barisal Sohortoli area of Charbaria union under Barisal Sadar upazila.
According to local Union Parishad member Jahidul Alam, Moktar's wife Munira Begum called him on the phone in the early hours of Thursday, saying she had stabbed her husband and he was injured.
Subsequently, Jahidul rushed to the house and took Moktar to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Moktar died at the hospital around 10am.
A long-standing family dispute might be behind the murder , Jahidul said.
Meanwhile, police have arrested Moktar's wife Munira, as well as their two children – Tanzila Akhter Mili, 17, and Afizul Islam, 14.
Kawnia police station Officer-in-Charge Nurul Islam said they were initially informed that the two children were also involved in the stabbing.
Moktar's body has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
