Grenades recovered from discarded bag in Dhaka

Update : 29 Sep 2017, 11:52 AM
Police have recovered two grenades from a discarded bag in Dakshin Khan Goaltek area in Dhaka on Thursday. Dakshin Khan police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Topon Chandra Shaha confirmed about the recovery and said the grenades were destroyed by the bomb disposal unit. Additional Deputy Commissioner Nurul Ahmed of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) division told the Dhaka Tribune that locals reported about the discarded bag in front of a shop on Thursday at 4pm. He added that once the police arrived at the scene and suspected the bag may contain explosives, they (police) called the bomb disposal unit instantly. When asked about the bag, Nurul Alam suspected that due to security purposes, the miscreant must have felt unsafe carrying the grenades around, leaving it in front of the shop. The additional deputy commissioner said the investigation is currently in progress.
