Drained Ashraful Islam Shamim, is the councillor of ward 5 under Kishoreganj municipality. He is also the co-convener of district Jubo Dal, youth front of the BNP.
Quoting witnesses Officer-in-Charge of Kishoreganj Model police station Mosharaf Hossain said: “Locals caught Shamim red-handed while he was trying to flee from municipality area with a stolen motorbike.”
“Later, locals handed over him to Sub-inspector Abul Kalam Azad giving him a good beat.”
Locals said Shamim was known in the area for his rowdy character.
