Deceased Murtuza Ali Milon, 40, was owner of Milon Telecom at Urvashi Cinema Hall Market in Phulbari and son of Shahajan Ali, a resident of Banshpukur village in the upazila.
Mostak Ahmed, officer-in charge of Parbatipur police station, said: “A group of armed people swooped on Milon and slaughtered him in Ghoramara Bridge area around 12:30am while he was returning home from his shop.
After hearing his screams, locals rushed him to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Later, Ali Hasan, brother of the deceased, filed a murder case with Parbatipur police station.
“We are trying to arrest the killers,” said the OC.
