A student who sat for this year's SSC examination has been murdered at Dakkhin Dania in the capital's Shanir Akhra.
Police recovered the body of Md Swadhin, the son of Md Sohel Rana, around noon on Monday. He had taken the SSC examination from Samirunnesa High School.
Kadamtali police station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Wazed Ali said a diary, mobile phone handset, and a blood-stained kitchen machete were recovered from the spot.
He said: "We suspect the incident might have happened following a love affair."
Quoting neighbours, the OC said: "Swadhin attended the birthday party of one of his friends, and returned home late on Sunday night. He had an altercation with his mother. In the morning, his mother went to his uncle's home. Swadhin was watching TV when his father went out around 10am."
Later, neighbours noticed Swadhin's butchered body beside their house around 11:30am and then informed the police.
