A teacher beat a tenth-grade female student indiscriminately, fracturing one of the student's fingers.
The incident took place at Mahmud Kathi Ichamuddin High School in Swarupkati upazila on March 20.
Babul Akter, father of the victim, told the Dhaka Tribune that mathematics teacher Baijid Hossain had assaulted his daughter indiscriminately, which resulted in one of her fingers being damaged.
Md Taufiquzzaman, headmaster of the school, said he was aware of the matter. He also said: “The teacher had beaten the girl as she had not been attentive in the classroom.” He also said they had already issued a show cause notice to the teacher.
When contacted, Baijid said he had just beaten the girl.
“I did not realise the finger of the girl would break,” he said.
