IT specialist Zoha’s family may lodge GD Saturday

Update : 19 Mar 2016, 09:36 AM

The family members of IT specialist Tanvir Hassan Zoha, who went missing on early Thursday, are mulling to file a general diary (GD) over his abduction.

Zoha’s uncle Mahbubul Alam on Saturday told the Dhaka Tribune that nearly 48-hour have passed but they got no information either from the law enforcers or the government.

“As we are in the dark about Zoha’s fate, we are considering to file a GD over the abduction of Zoha.”

The family claimed Zoha, who was reportedly involved in investigation into the Bangladesh Bank digital heist, was abducted from the capital’s Kachukhet around 1am.

His wife Kamrun Nahar Chowdhury said the last time she had spoken with her husband was around 11:30pm on Wednesday. Zoha’s mobile phone has been switched off since 12:15am Thursday.

Family members on Thursday claimed police had refused to register their complaint. When contacted, Bhashantek police station OC Nazrul Islam said: “We are yet to get any formal complaint from Zoha’s family. We will take necessary steps once they lodge a complaint.”

On the other hand, RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan told the Dhaka Tribune that they did not arrest Zoha. “We are ready to take steps if his family seeks our help,” he said.

On Thursday, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said Zoha might have been arrested over the central bank’s fund heist.

At a programme in Dhaka Friday, he said: “If the law enforcers pick him up, it will be made public within a short time.”
