A suspected robber has been killed in a “gunfight” with police at Ramkantapur village under Shalikha upazila in Magura.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet, reports UNB.
Shalikha OC Abu Jihad said: “Acting on on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the village around 2am to arrest the robbers.”
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire at police.
In retaliation, police fired back that left one of dead while the others fled the scene.
The OC five policemen, including SI Nasir Uddin, were injured in the incident.
The injured policemen have been admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital.
Meanwhile, police recovered a pistol, a magazine, three rounds of bullet, six rounds of bullet shells and some sharp weapons from the spot.
A case was filed in this connection.
